Production Concept & Artistic Vision
A heightened journey through identity, anxiety, and social pressure, where Wonderland becomes the landscape of Alice’s inner world.
Alice in Wonderland was selected as a story with enough depth and creative freedom to become a canvas for the students creating it. The production centered the question: Why this play now?
In a world filled with noise about what to believe, how to present ourselves, and what defines success, Alice became a contemporary young person searching for her own identity and voice. Her journey through Wonderland allowed her to confront the fears, anxieties, expectations, and social pressures that had led her down the rabbit hole.
Each Wonderland character represented a different internal struggle or pressure identified by the cast as relevant to their own lives. Wonderland was not simply a fantasy world. It was a heightened reflection of Alice’s thoughts, fears, relationships, and developing understanding of herself.
The production explored the idea of home as a person, a place, or a feeling. Alice’s journey ultimately led her toward a home within herself. By learning to think independently and trust her own perspective, she began to understand who she was beyond the noise surrounding her.
“Alice in Wonderland is a canvas, and we, as a team, got to paint it the way we saw it necessary at this time.”
“Alice is one of us, on a journey to discover her own identity and beliefs.”
“Alice is being guided to find a home in herself through her personal journey of discovery.”
