Production Concept & Artistic Vision

A story suspended between history and myth, where memory, imagination, and hope unfold through the fragile magic of a music box.

Anastasia is both a sweeping theatrical journey and an intimate exploration of identity. At its center are memory, imagination, and the courage it takes to believe in something greater than what the world allows us to see.

This production was designed to feel nostalgic and grounding, like a childhood story returning with new meaning. As we grow, the stories we once understood as fantasy become more complicated. What once felt magical may begin to feel like longing, and what once seemed simple may reveal deeper truths.

The visual world of the production was anchored by the music box. It became a metaphor for childhood, wonder, memory, and hope. It also held the central tension of the story: the collision between dream and danger, the past and the present, and the story we long to believe against the truth we must confront.

The Music Box Dancers served as the living embodiment of that metaphor. They carried Anya between memories and emotional states, appearing at times playful and nostalgic, and at others fractured, haunting, or urgent as her past began to resurface.

“Anastasia is a story that lives between history and myth, unfolding as both a sweeping theatrical journey and an intimate exploration of identity.”
“The music box becomes a living metaphor throughout the show. It holds our childhood, our imagination, our wonder, and our hope for what could be.”
