Rodgers & Hammerstein’s
Cinderella in Concert

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella in Concert marked Santa Margarita Catholic High School’s first collaboration concert between Talon Theatre and the Instrumental Music Department. The production was created to bring students from different performing arts disciplines together through one shared theatrical experience.

The concert format gave theatre students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the classic musical style of Rodgers and Hammerstein while allowing the orchestra and wind ensemble to perform a complete musical theatre score. Actors, singers, instrumentalists, designers, and technicians were equally responsible for shaping the world of the story.

Although presented in concert, the production was designed as a fully realized theatrical experience. Student designers created costumes, props, lighting, hair and makeup, and sound, while the full orchestra became an essential visual and musical part of the stage.

At the center of the production were the ideas of resilience, kindness, courage, and self-belief. Cinderella’s journey reminds us that hope is an active choice and that compassion can become a source of strength. Her story invites us to continue believing in the future, even when the world around us suggests that change is impossible.
